This was
my first car. It was a 1965 Coupe with a Honey Gold exterior and an Ivy
Gold interior. Of course when I got it it was dark green inside and out,
but it did have an original dash pad. The car was loaded except for the
engine. It was a 200 c.i.d 6 cylinder with a C-4 automatic tranny, air
conditioning, and power steering. I probably put 80,000 miles on this
car in the six and a half years I owned it.

This was
the way the car looked when I brought it home in May of 1980. It needed
a paint job and a new engine. The tired 6 cylinder had 118,000 miles
on it. So the summer of 1980, my dad taught me how to do an engine swap.
We bought a short block, prepared everything Friday night, pulled the
engine Saturday and picked up the new short block. The car was on the
road again Sunday. |
1981 -
This is the first restoration. Since the interior wasn't original, it
seemed futile to paint the exterior in an original but clashing color.
The paint was done by a young guy just starting his own shop. He did
a terrific job. The gold pinstriping was his idea and it really made
the car. |
This is
the restoration back to the original colors inside and out. The interior
paint was a metalflake olive green. I know this was original since I
found the overspray under the carpet. The dash was also an olive green.
I have not seen these colors available in any Mustang books.

Too bad I had to sell it.
It looked pretty sharp once I was done, but I had to get rid of
a car and I wanted the V-8. |
